Marketing | Spaghetti Sauce and Content Creation

image

How do you like your spaghetti sauce? Old world traditional? Extra chunky? Cheesy? Or [fill in the blank]? If you take this question and ask your family, friends and co-workers, you would get a variety of answers. There is no universal tomato sauce that everyone would enjoy equally. In his famous TED talk, Malcolm Gladwell told a remarkable story on how Howard Moskowitz had changed the way the food industry think about what make you happy. Howard confronted the notion of the Platonic dish, the only one way, a perfect way, to make a dish. His studies and validated results showed that there is no perfect tomato sauce or imperfect tomato sauce, there are only different kinds of tomato sauce that suit different kinds of people.

diy fashion | before & after… ripped crop sweater with polka dots

image

After a warm Indian summer last weekend, I am ready for the Fall. The thought of getting bundle up in a warm fuzzy sweater while lounging around with a good book, and a cup of hot chocolate makes me so excited every time October comes. And let’s face it, if you live in the Bay Area like I do, you can’t never have too much sweater in your wardrobe.

Last weekend, I visited my guy’s family and boy I was in for a treat! His mom and his sister were cleaning up their wardrobes and I jumped on the opportunity for treasure hunting! Among all items, I spotted this neon pink oversize sweater. I can probably wear it as it was, but I wanted to add more texture and character to it. Voila, why not a neon pink and ripped crop sweater with polka dots?

Marketing | How to define the RIGHT and RELEVANT Value Proposition?

image

After a couple years working with different clients in startups and SMBs, I realize that most of these entrepreneurs and business owners can tell me exactly what their companies do and what make them special. But they have a hard time communicating the same message across other marketing channels.

For example, one of my clients offers an unique and highly desirable product and they have an amazing sales team, who could close most of the deals that come in the door. Their sales team knows exactly what their value proposition is and while talking directly to the prospects, they can also navigate through the prospects’ pain points and adjust the message accordingly. However, it is not that easy to replicate the same method and success cost-efficiently across marketing channels like website, SEM/PPC ad messages, landing pages or social media communication. Without proper planning and testing, communicating blindly via these channels will push you against the wall. You can’t really navigate through your prospects’ pain points and learn if your current value proposition is dead-on or not. And let’s face it, in today’s world, everyone is unique and everyone wants to be a special snowflake (you might guess where I pulled the quote from!) The point is, defining the right value proposition is not enough, it also needs to be RELEVANT to your target audience.  The following practices have helped me through the years and hopefully they can help you too.

diy fashion | givenchy inspired vintage rottweiler clutch

image

Such a fun clutch to carry around, it adds the perfect touch of edge and rock chic to any outfit. Love the look, not so much the price! So I decided to whip out the left over vinyl from my last project and instead of using a Rottweiler picture, I took a snapshot of Choco (the adorable stubborn 3 year-old-husky that we have and love so much). After all, fashion is all about personalize what you have and make it your own. So if you have a pet you love, put it on your clutch :))
